Sentimental Longing explores nostalgia through layered, symbolic imagery that reflects the fragmented nature of memory. Motifs like the Ferris wheel, beetle, fading portraits, and blue faces reference moments that resurface over time. A definition of “nostalgia” anchors the piece. The work received the Principal’s Acquisition Award at Eltham High School and is now permanently displayed at the school.

I’m a young emerging artist from Eltham, and a lot of my work starts with the photos I take, little moments, places, and details that catch my eye. I use those images as the base for my digital collages, layering them with textures, symbols, and hand-drawn elements in Procreate to build something that feels both personal and reflective.
My art is really about exploring identity and the memories that shape who we become, and growing up in Eltham, with its mix of nature, community, and nostalgia has had a huge influence on that.
Recently, my piece Sentimental Longing won the Principal’s Acquisition Award at Eltham High School, which meant a lot to me because it recognised the heart and honesty behind my work. Even though my pieces come from my own experiences, I hope they encourage others to pause, reflect, and think about the quiet moments and memories that shape their own stories.
